Business Department

The purpose of the Business Department at Felix Varela Senior High is to provide students with curriculum and isntructional activities that allow students to preview careers in the fields of preview careers in the fields of Business and Information Technology.

Students will recieve instruction by teacher who have worked in the "real world" of business and information technology, abd bring thier years of experience into the classroom.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, jobs that apply information technology skills will be some of the fastest growing and highest paying jobs over the next decade.

In addition, skills in areas such as problem-solving, project managment, teamwork, and communication, will be in high demand in the future.

Pre-Requisite

Students can specialize in the field of Business or Information Technology after taking the pre-requisite, freshmen-level, wheel-like course, "Introduction to Information Technology," which gives them a broad perspective of web design, computer programming, networking, and business and Ms Office applications. Withing the Business department, students can applt to one of two academies: The Academy of Business and Finance or The Academy of Information Technology.
